I learned a lot by reading of several trading websites, trading newsletters (paid and free) during my trading career. But there is so big offer available now on Internet and it is hard to decide what to read and what not.

I have noticed nice post on thecrosshairstrader.com blog site about some general recommendations what is important to check when you read such materials. Maybe the points described there are not all what is important but they are good starter.

These investment themes will be based on global macro strategies I have prepared. They can be traded on stock markets, FOREX or commodities markets. I trade them in my own fund. Most of them are good for position trades.

Energy sector – bearish stock chart pattern developing ?

I monitor Energy sector for several weeks . I cannot decide if situation is more bearish or bullish.

But I have slight feeling that it is much more like bearish chart pattern then bullish chart pattern.

I have noticed bearish stock chart pattern on chart of energy sector ETF (XLE). This pattern is being formed since October. I will very closely watch action near 50 USD . I am ready to short it if any further weakness will develop.

I will also watch stocks from this sector for possible stock trading setup .

I do not post too much right now as there are holidays in US with shortened trading week. Therefore I only published newsletter on Monday.

FYI: I received new notebook I want to use in my home office. It is Dell Precision M6400. Looks pretty good and first impressions are good. Will publish my experience with it later.

I used Sony Vajo VGN-BX 197XP till today for my home office trading/analysis. But I needed more computing power with Core Duo processor. So I decided to buy new notebook – well maybe it is more mobile workstation then notebook

Closing my gold shorts

As I mentioned I used fear and panic of last weeks to open shorts in gold.

And as gold dropped I had started to cover my gold shorts yesterday.

I think that there is bearish time for gold, oil and generally for commodities in front of us. So my strategy will be wait for good pullbacks for entering new shorts in these sectors, stocks and ETFs.

Ultra Short Crude Oil

I have been informed about several new Inverse Short Index shares . There are not ETFs but ETN, product very similar to ETF.

One of them is Crude Oil short strategy share:

PowerShares DB Crude Oil Double Short ETN – Symbol: DTO

I do not think that it is time to short Crude right now, but I will have this stock prepared for possible shorts when current rally in Crude will start to correct down.

New Short ETF symbols for shorting Bonds

I just noticed two new Short ETFs by ProShares which allow to participate on decline in Bonds price:

1. UltraShort Lehman 7-10 Year Treasury , symbol PST

2. UltraShort Lehman 20+ Year Treasury, symbol TBT

As you may know from my free newsletter, I am bearish on bonds . I planned to short TLT or other bonds ETF , but these new Short ETFs offer easier possibility to go short in bonds.
